Chi’ra feeling guilty? Is working for the Imperials somehow different than personally stabbing people in the back? Maybe it’s just the scale of impact Chi’ra claims they feel guilty about. Betraying someone is generally just against that someone rather than a whole population. A reverse of “an individual is a tragedy, a million is a statistic” or something?
And how’s this a new leaf? Working for Proxima was already a life of crime. I know the years can feel like they’ve dragged on and on and on, but I’m surprised that’s been glossed over.
Also, it’s rather odd, but I think this is the first time we’ve actually had a shower pictured in Star Wars. Everyone else has depended on the magic of movie editing up to now, so I wonder what prompted the writers or directors to include this scene. It’s also rather odd that Han and Chewbacca are showering at the same time here. It’s probably only been what, half an hour at the most after Han got dumped down in the pit? Then smashed into a pillar. And thrown like 10 feet overhead. And dragged through the mud. I’d be wondering what’s gonna happen next after all that personally and not want to spend a time of time alone after that.

Jim: They picked us up and the ship ascended through the war-torn skies of Mimban.
Jim: I’d had enough military action for a lifetime.
Jim: From now on, I was turning over a new leaf. Into a life of crime.
Jim: But first I used the ship’s shower to wash off the mud and the grime and the guilt of countless civilian lives oppressed by the relentless march of the Imperial Army that I’d been part of.
Chewbacca: I say old chap, you’re using up all the hot water.
Chi’ra: Yeah, I suppose that’s enough guilt washed off.
