It's nice to have cool names for combat manoeuvres. You can rattle them off during a fight and have all your allies know exactly what to do as you work together like a well-oiled machine for maximum tactical efficiency.
Assuming everyone has memorised all the names.

Ohhh, space battle time! Now we might finish the Episode soon. Like, wow! We're almost at 400 comics just for Episode VII!
With only eleven ten X-wings attacking, it feels like they should have stuck around the Hexagon base or been destroyed already. It didn't look like there were any point defences against fighters like the Death Star had, and since that's where the objective is (as far as I can tell), there would be a slightly higher chance of destroying that base if the fighting was around there. Otherwise, what's the point of pulling back into space but still hanging around? They should be retreating back into hyperspace if survival was now the goal.
I recognize the word Corellian from somewhere, so I'm guessing these are meant to be references to other characters or places that Jim is making. Maybe they're background characters or places elsewhere in the films that get extra books or comics about them, Like how this random character got a whole bunch of extra info that couldn't possibly have fit into the movie.
