No Chewie! That's how you end up losing your plasma crossbow! Ok sure, you're technically a sidekick and stuff like this happens to sidekicks, but still! Maybe Ben should think of a way to get the GM to turn Chewbacca into a full character. Perhaps a way of freezing Yanni in alcohol (Han in carbonite) again? That's really the only time I can think that they were separated for any real length of time. It'd be the best of both worlds: Yanni wouldn't be dead and wouldn't be able to mess the ship up again!
Getting pinned down is never fun. Getting pinned down with shoddy (or worse, only melee) weapons is even less so. So why not share the best weapon so everyone shoots with it? Sure, it'd never work out in the real world, but even Dungeons & Dragons had "the peasant railgun" as a potential outcome of mixing real life and rules applications (with a generous side of bamboozling the GM). With Pete showing how broken this game system can be on occasion, I bet someone could work out a way to shoot and hand off the crossbow to the next person so they can also shoot with it on their turn.
...
Han/Yanni is totally going to keep using/stealing the crossbow across the next two movies as well as a running joke isn't he?

[SFX]: Pow! Boom!
Yanni: Hey, can I try that plasma crossbow again?
Chewbacca: Remember I said you could never borrow it?
Yanni: I’m thinking of getting one for myself. I want another test drive.
Chewbacca: In that case, I suppose...
Yanni: Great! 15!
[SFX]: Pow! Boom!
Chewbacca: Are you really considering buying one?
Yanni: Well, stealing yours.
