Besides immense riches, one of the largest goals for PCs is the acquisition of power. All adventurers dream of setting up their own castle and establishing a realm, and then hobnobbing with princes and kings. Or even becoming royalty.
In fact there's no need to stop there. In many fantasy campaigns there are entire planes of existence to conquer and gods to slay!
And now you know why you should think twice before including such things in your campaign.

Anakin: I want to serve the Republic as best I can, but I need your help.
Palpatine: In what capacity?
Anakin: Give me authority over the Jedi Council so I can root out the Sith Lord.
Palpatine: The Council is outside the influence of the Senate; I absolutely cannot do that.
Anakin: Now now, Chancellor, don't be coy. I know you have reason to fear the probings of the Council.
Palpatine: My hands are tied.
Anakin: As Chancellor, you may personally appoint one member of the Council. Surely you can extend your influence.
Palpatine: Er... No Chancellor has used that power for hundreds of years.
Anakin: Trust me.
Anakin: There's a Sith on the Council. This threatens the entire Republic.
Palpatine: That's a very serious accusation; who is it?
Anakin: I'm not sure yet. That's why I need access to the Council.
Palpatine: <sigh> Very well. I shall inform them of your appointment. But you will have no special authority.
Anakin: Thank you, Chancellor. You won't regret it.
R2-D2: Hey, great! Now we can get my dreadnought back.
