Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)
The movie is starting out pretty good, I think! Stealing a speeder and already customizing it? Just what I would expect for a younger Han Solo. A lucky set of dice? Not exactly what I would have pictured for him, but it fits with the Episode IV quote of “I call it luck” after watching Luke train with the floating orb.
I wonder what it’s being stolen for. Is this an escape scene from a different crime we’re in the middle of? Just straight up car theft? It seems likely it’s for the Lady Proxima either way, but finding that out will tell us a lot about Alberto.
And I also realized something here. In spite of Jim being one of the players with the most characters, with most of them dying in a multitude of ways, up to this point there had only been Qui-Gon and Padmé. And since it’s a “just in case” with Han never showing any kind of Force Powers later, those dice are never going to be seen again, are they?

Jim: The scene opens in the dead of night, with me hotwiring a speeder.
[SFX]: spark!
[SFX]: Vrooom!
Jim: As I drove off, I checked the registration papers in the glovebox. I’d just stolen it off some guy named Alberto.
Jim: In a flash of brilliance I had a super cool idea. I’d pretend to be Alberto!
Ben: And so it begins...
Jim: While driving the rough streets of Coronet City on Corellia, I hung my lucky dice on the windscreen.
Pete: In Han’s backstory, he has lucky dice?
[SFX]: Vrroooomm!!!
Jim: Yeah, in case I ever got one of those “reroll any one die roll” feats.
