Yeah, this is definitely showing off just how much they want to kill Luke. Who will be completely fine because even with how badly everything else has gone so far, Star Wars doesn't kill off major characters like this without some sort of proper last words or a body being shown. Hmm. Though I suppose since it's Luke the Jedi Master, there's nothing that'd stop him from simply showing up again as a Force Ghost later....
And here's another example of the helmet helping Kylo's appearance. Intellectually, I know that's probably him yelling to pour on the AT-AT fire and the panel cropping being very close. But I still keep seeing an angry fish face. I have to really try to get my lips to look like that, and I can't intelligibly yell at the same time. Though it wouldn't surprise me if Kylo actually was unintelligible here.
