If it's a choice between weapons and life support systems... well, probably a lot of players would prefer to hang on to their weapons. Try this dilemma on your playing group and see which way they go!
Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)
Hey wait, scraping up the Falcon is supposed to happen in the next movie! I guess we gotta punch up the action here somehow, though I would have thought that dodging around with a swarm of TIE fighters would be good enough. By Chewbacca's comment though, I would think that there's still the other turret that's usable.
Porgs? In the cockpit? I guess Chewie wouldn't readily be able to shoo them out while in the middle of piloting the ship. Still a little bit odd to see one of the pets being shocked by how the ship is flying.

GM: Light filters through a fissure ahead of you.
Rey: That’s our exit!
[SFX]: pow! pow! {chasing PIE fighters fire}
GM: The fissure constricts down to what you estimate is slightly less than the height of the Falcon.
Chewbacca: Rey, hold on!
[SFX]: Scraaape! Scraaape! Kzzrcch!! {a view form Rey's gunner's turret shows the gun being destroyed by scraping along the side of the canyon wall}
Rey: You’re destroying my gun! Are you trying to steal my kills?
Chewbacca: It’s either the ventral gun or take out the dorsal hatch and life support systems.
[SFX]: honk! {a porg in the cockpit honks in fear}
Rey: ... Harsh, but fair.
[SFX]: vreeeeooooowww... vreeeeooooowww... vreeeeooooowww... {PIE fighters follow the Falcon}
[SFX]: whoooosshh... {the Falcon zooms through the constricted crystal cavern}
Chewbacca: Your consideration for factors that are important for the wellbeing of all of us has really improved.
[SFX]: kboom! {a chasing PIE fighter explodes as it crashes into a crystal}
[SFX]: pow! pow!
Rey: Yeah. This is why it’s better to play a droid.
