The plan recap afterwards to see how it actually happened is a great way to show that no plan survives contact with the enemy, and just how haywire things went instead. If you have players who love making detailed plans, this is especially important so that next time they can make even more complicated plans and have those fall apart.

Jim claiming an extremely random series of events is entirely his plan? Poe trying to take over the defence? Connix complaining about Leia? That all sounds about right.
And while it's a pretty common occurrence for Star Wars, I do like that I called the meeting for planning the defences. It's a good time to state how dangerous things are going to be, what's at stake for failure, and other things along those lines. Hey, maybe that's what all of the previous battles were missing and why they were so lopsided against the Resistance; none of them started with a rousing speech!

Poe: BB-8! So, my casino heist plan worked perfectly?
BB-8: Well... it worked. Kinda.
Rose: Depends if you call getting arrested, breaking out of a cell, wading through sewers, fleeing on mounts while being chased by cops, having our ship blown up, ending up having to do the job by infiltrating Snoke’s flagship instead, and being betrayed in the process “perfectly”.
Poe: I’m glad you followed all the steps!
Finn: The First Order fleet is dispersed, but what’s left of the command ship knows we’re here.
Larma D’Acy: {working at a console} Time to get this base set up for defence.
Poe: Right! I’ll take charge!
Kaydel Ko Connix: You’re usurping General Organa?
Finn: I don’t think that’s a wise idea.
Leia: Yeah. I’m right here, you know.
Kaydel Ko Connix: {sotto voce} Not that I’d have any problem with it.
Poe: Change of plan... I’ll just focus on shield deployment, tactical ops, counter-attack strategy, and all the high-pressure decisions.
Poe: You can try handling how sexy all that is!
Leia: Poe, sweetie, not even the Force could help you with that.
