Episode 2286: Blowing Up is Hard to Do

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

If you want to make the tension high in a combat, you can mention that the heroes' armour or shields are whatever is deflecting all the incoming attacks.

For now.

Those two little words can have a big impact on the players' perception of the encounter, and their likely chances of prevailing.

The goblins are whacking your armour with all their might, but their blows aren't strong enough to hurt you or get through the armour.

For now.

The evil necromancer is casting obvious powerful spells at you, but your wizard's magical shield is easily holding them at bay.

For now.

Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)

Ooooooo, now there's a fancy fighter spaceship. It's a little hard to tell with the somewhat more realistic lighting, but it looks like it's got 4 pointy segments paired up on each side. Compared to the PIE TIE fighters around it, it looks like there's more internal room in the central ball as well. Maybe there's some minions inside it helping fly or shoot, or some extra equipment for shields or weapons stuffed into it. Here's hoping we can get some more panels showing it off!

Even if Kylo seems to have ran much faster than expected in the available time between helmet smash and being in the ship, I'm gonna guess there's no way Luke will get the same apparent time compression to make it to this fight. Even if Rey can somehow get the message that the First Order is attacking from the encrypted one and immediately convince him to leave, that would really strain the movie's credibility. Not that the Millenium Falcon would be able to do much versus this fleet anyway; that's going to take resources that don't seem to exist yet. Hmmmmmm. Lucky hit against Kylo's ship making it so the Resistance can hyperjump away while the First Order scrambles to collect Kylo? I can't think of much else that'd allow them to escape this round without losing all but the ships Leia and Allan are on and even then I'm not so sure they'll not get blown up and/or captured somehow too.
