It can be an emotional time when an established character dies in a roleplaying game.
It can be difficult, but it's better to be sad for the character and for the in-game friends and consequences, rather than for the fact that the player will need to create a new character. As death is a part of life, character death is a part of character life.
"Happily ever after" can work for a light fairy tale, and that may be a way to avoid considering the deaths of favoured PCs, but confronting death can lead to whole other dramatic possibilities.

And there it is. I knew Han was going to die at some point, but given the alphabet blitz of names from Xasha to Zeppo, which then stuck around much longer than expected, I'd thought Han was going to kick the bucket much sooner. I have to say again, I really appreciate the extra twist of the Irregulars going (No Name) to keep me guessing even with that info I started with.
Honestly though? I'm more confused than sad with this outcome. I mean, losing a character that's been around for a long time is very sad, for both the movie Han Solo I vaguely remember and the comic funny "Jim Solo". But only having a talking scene just before getting unceremoniously killed feels so wrong for the character! No fending enemies off to allow someone else to escape, no trying to take them with him, nothing resembling a last stand at all. Just talking and then dying feels like something a totally different character would do.
Ah man, this might be the last time we get movie-Han Solo quotes in the comic. Hopefully that won't be the case, but there are definitely going to be fewer opportunities after this.

GM: The last embers of the exploding sun fade away. The twilight gloom becomes starlit darkness.
Han: I’m happy for you to be my son. Rey can be your sister!
Kylo Ren: It’s too late.
Han: No it’s not. Leave here with me. Come home. We miss you.
Kylo Ren: We??
Han: Yeah, you’ll have a mother! Princess... uh, Leia.
Han: Join me, and together we can... rule the Galaxy?... as father and son!!
[SFX]: STAB!!! {Kylo impales Han through the chest with his laser sword}
Kylo Ren: Boring conversation anyway.
