The cool thing is, in most roleplaying games the players will inevitably forget vital information, thus not only rendering flashback recaps from NPCs useful, but virtually requiring them.
If you record your game session, on audio or even video, you can make this easier by just replaying the relevant scenes later on when the players need to be reminded.

[SFX]: Pow!
Boba Fett: You can't win. Solo will be captured and dissected. I will find Kenobi.
Luke: What is your problem? Why such a single-minded obsession?
Boba Fett: On Cloud City I met Solo and the Wookiee...
{flashback to Cloud City}
Boba Fett: Hello. My name is Boba Fett, adopted son of Jango Fett, who was slain during the Silence of the Clones.
Boba Fett: {voice over flashback within flashback} "Jango worked for my true father, Darth Maul, who was slain by a Jedi named Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Boba Fett: {voice over} "Jango sought vengeance against Kenobi by financing a clone army to resurrect the Trade Federation."
Luke: Oh lord, it's one of these. I'm getting outta here.
[SFX]: jump... {Luke jumps to other skiff}
[SFX]: paf {Luke lands on the other skiff}
