Sometimes you have to have someone in authority ask the hard questions of your player's characters.

Just be prepared for them to bounce right off. Or even ricochet alarmingly.

Anakin: Such as?
Palpatine: Were you going to leave Obi-Wan to die on Dookû's ship?
Anakin: It was a painful choice. But even you must admit that you are more important than one Jedi knight.
Anakin: I'm proud to serve the Republic, Chancellor.
Palpatine: I must say, I still disapprove.
Anakin: On the other hand, if perhaps someone in a position of power in the Republic had done something that they would prefer remain secret, and the Jedi exposed that secret, then the people's esteem for the Jedi would be greater.
{beat}
Palpatine: Are you implying something?
Anakin: Me? Of course not, Chancellor.
Anakin: But may I ask a favour? Don't tell Obi-Wan.
Anakin: For his own good.
