This is kind of an anti-thing that doesn't actually happen much in real games. Players almost never suspect that they're being distracted from paying attention to important stuff. It's much more usual for the important stuff to be staring them in the face and they don't realise it.
So, effectively as a GM you don't need to bother to learn this trick.

You did, Pete! You just missed the bit where that's obviously a statement of "you're not being told right now". Personally, I think this is probably to have the whole party in the same place so the information can be given out in-character. Otherwise the GM's just being kinda rude.
Hmmmm. That's a suspicious looking pyramid shape. Veeeeery suspicious. Almost like there's more to it than just being an invitation. Any bets that Palpaclone used these things as invitations without knowing precisely what they are? Or maybe there's even a secondary use for them besides inviting people to and being a map to Exegol.

Rey: Luke said they chronicle the rise and fall of the Jedi. And why we use cheap laser swords.
Rey: I search through them for anything about visions being imprinted on swords.
GM: You find a passage about objects carrying echoes of past events.
Rey: Past? So no visions of the future?
GM: It doesn’t say that.
Rey: So where has the sword been? Luke dropped it on Cloud City, and somehow it ended up in Darth Kanata’s basement.
GM: Flipping the page, you see a diagram of a pyramidal object.
Rey: I need to talk to Kanata. Where is he?
GM: He’s here on Ajan Kloss, but—
Rey: But what?
Nimi Chireen: The Falcon’s back!
Rey: Are you trying to distract me from something important?
GM: Wouldn’t you like to know?
