Episode 2302: Spoooooon!

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

"Evasive manoeuvres*" are a standard tactic in vehicular combat situations, popularised by Star Trek, among other fictional examples. Whether they actually work in practice... well, that's up to you and your gaming sensibilities.

You might have specific evasive tactical options available, for players to select. Or you could let them invent creative ways to avoid pursuit or weapon fire, and rule on-the-fly whether they might be successful or not, depending on the situation and the cleverness of the idea. Or you might decide that such tactics are essentially useless (as they often seemed to be in Star Trek, despite them apparently being standard operating procedure...).

* Aside: The word "manoeuvre/maneuver" also has the distinction of having not one but two separate spelling changes when comparing British versus US English.

Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)

You gotta be careful when taunting your enemies. Otherwise you could end up insulting yourself or your allies at the same time and that's gnat good at all. And while ticks can be quite dangerous, that's usually only if they're not removed quickly and properly. It would be enjoyable to see Kylo the space parasite get roasted by lasers though as there won't be any giant tweezers handy any time soon.

I wonder where the bridge is on Raddus. The ship is a little odd looking, but at least it appears more sensically built than star destroyers are. Those ships have nice easy-to-find bridges, even when your own ship is getting shot down! The Raddus (which I just noticed shares a name with Admiral Radish) probably has a bridge that looks out into space like other Star Wars ships. Maybe it's that arc or slice with the white spot in the middle. That'd be the most reasonable spot that still keeps the aesthetic theme I think.

Kylo Ren: You’re a blundering dog trying to shake off a deadly tick.
Leia: I’m the faithful companion and you’re the bloodsucking parasite. I see.
Kylo Ren: Bark all you want. I’ll show you my... mite!
Kylo Ren: I fly straight for the bridge and lock missiles on target.
Kylo Ren: Your al-lice can’t save you now.
BB-8: There’s nowhere left to flea!
GM: That’s quite the spray of insect asides.
Rey: Ticks and mites aren’t insects!
GM: I thought that would bug you.
