Episode 2251: When The Only Tool You Have is a Cobalt Hammer, Every Problem Looks Like a Cobalt Nail

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

Battles and combats tend to take some time to play out. So if some player has a character who isn't involved because they're off doing something else, they can feel left out for an extended period of time. So feel free to give them control of someone else who would ordinarily be an NPC or a GM-controlled adversary or even a monster. This way they get to make some decisions and roll some dice. And as a bonus you don't have to worry too much about them taking huge risks and being killed, as they're not main characters.

Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)

Okay, now this seems more like the proper start to a space fight. Allan's flying and shooting was pretty cool so far, but it was still just one small spaceship attacking a single big one.

So we've got a handful of A-wings, X-wings are pictured as well, and there's whatever these new ships are. Upgraded B-wings perhaps? They've kinda got that t-shape, but there's bits that are missing on the part pointing up in the panel. With what I remember of previous space battles not having much in the way of anything that could only be called bombers, I'm guessing that these aren't actually "bomber" spaceships and that's just the comic making things up. On the other hand, this gunner turret does remind me a lot of the B-17's ball turret, so I could be mistaken there. This would be a really weird design for a spaceship meant to only throw bombs or missiles at things if that's the case.

And with an ending line like that, I bet most everyone here's gonna end up blowing up aren't they? It'd be nice to think otherwise, but we're still at the start of the movie. Is the First Order going to bring in more star destroyers after some get blown up? I'm still only counting about four of them around the Fulminatrix in all of these panels, and that's assuming that the one of the left in the last big panel is hidden in the top panel. If most of the Resistance ships get blown up taking out the majority of the First Order ships, suddenly finding that reinforcements replaced all of the blown up destroyers would be a good reason to run away instead.
