"Blasting controls always does what you want". Gee, that sounds like a trope if I've ever heard of it. And it's a topic that has been in and around the forums for a while - both here, and Giant in the Playground, the idea that "failsafe" does not apply to the door controls in this universe, and they do whatever the plot requires.
Well, here we see that the GM is now having a roll to see what happens. It's not an automatic either way.
Except, we see that the universe really does prefer "the plot" to decide what happens after all. :-)

Hah, and BB-8 is the one that points out one of the issues with blasting door controls! Too bad that the door is already jammed shut, so it wouldn't be an additional problem at this point. The group would still need to try and get through the door or go around. And with Rey and Finn mostly safe from the gangs, they could even properly operate the door from the other side.
A 98 is an extremely good roll, so the universe is definitely conspiring for something. Han's even pulled something off like this before! And Jim's previous between character did too! With that kind of luck, it makes sense that Yanni has lasted this long with all of the various schemes occurring. In a different kind of setting, this would totally be a character with luck powers, if only as a way to stay alive despite all of the mishaps they cause.
And while I don't think the universe will always try to win a bet, it's definitely a vast and wonderful place. From images of nebulae and Martian videos, to the huge variety of places here on Earth with wild jungles, awesome mountains, and deep blue oceans, there's so many wonderful things to see and learn about out there.

GM: Let’s just put that to the test of probability, shall we? Roll a percentile.
Chewbacca: Ten credits says this will never work.
Yanni: 98!
[SFX]: Pow!
GM: Why does the universe conspire to do this...?
[SFX]: shwoop {the hangar door opens}
Yanni: The universe is a vast and wonderful place.
Chewbacca: I think I owe the universe a tenner.
Yanni: And it’ll do whatever it takes to win a bet.
