Reporting to an evil superior is always fraught with danger. Or at least it should be. You never know what comment or action will get you dropped into the piranha pool.
A corollary is that evil superiors should always have some handy method of dealing with incompetent subordinates. This is why ones who don't wield personal weapons have piranha pools in the first place.
See, these architectural deathtrap oddities do have a good reason for existing!

I guess Mitaka judged that it would be better to get everything known out now rather than say nothing and maybe get discovered withholding information later. I would have taken my chances with calling that good and leaving the room as soon as I could after a display like that by Kylo. On the plus side for Mitaka, they don't seem to be in immediate danger of dying as they're being told to go inform two separate groups about things those groups need to do.
Also, might I say that this is a great way to earn the ire of the I.T. department? Unless there's exceptional benefits to working with the First Order, I can't think of any technician that would be happy to know the boss smashed up a bunch of equipment on a whim. There's probably not even enough salvageable here to have it be fixable once the laser sword cuts cool down. Hopefully there are enough spares available or a fabrication shop onboard the Finalizer.
Thoughts about this as a movie scene: Kylo Ren has been shown to be menacing or ruthless in the scenes they've appeared in so far. But this one? This makes me feel like Kylo's a petulent child that throws a tantrum because they were told they didn't get their way. Maybe there's extra context I'm missing before this point, but it's hard to think of this as anything but a temper tantrum. Though it's mostly a product of the times, everything that Darth Vader did in Episodes IV through VI felt much more deliberate and controlled. Vader wannabe here has a lot more learning to do before they can properly fill in as the Big Bad/Dragon for the movies (I'm not sure which Kylo actually is meant to be yet).

"Hello, IT? Yea, my computer has stopped working. No, I think it stabbed itself in the back 16 times."
Kylo, if someone is bringing you bad news, let them speak. Otherwise, no one will tell you the bad things that are happening, and you won't have the information you need.
And, now that you've choked Mitaka, how will he inform the spy network? Or... is this kindness, like Darth Vader, only doing a partial choke and letting them live?
Hmm, which path are you walking?

Kylo Ren: What droid?
Lieutenant Mitaka: A <gag> BB unit... <choke> orange and white... <hack>
Kylo Ren: I don’t care what colour it is. No droid can be that important.
Kylo Ren: Inform our spy network to watch for Finn. I want to know as soon as he shows up anywhere.
Lieutenant Mitaka: Yes <wheeze> sir...
Kylo Ren: And call I.T. to fix this computer.
