Episode 1753: Pan-Galactic Goggle Master

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

At least Anakin's goggles in the pod race ostensibly served some useful purpose. Although maybe not the ones he wore here.

And in Darths & Droids administrative mode: This is the last of our intermission strips following Rogue One. A few days ago we didn't know what we would be doing next, but now we do know and can make an announcement:

We are not planning to start work on Episode VII: The Force Awakens until some point after Episode IX is released, so that we know the story through all three films before starting to plot our comic through those episodes. While we (and you) wait for that film to be released, we are going to present something else to fill the time, but we are also going to wind back our publication frequency from three times a week to once a week, to give us a bit of a break from having to produce three complete strips every week (as we've been doing for the past 11 years).

So, until further notice, we will be publishing one strip a week, on Sundays, with the intention to return to three strips per week when we begin Episode VII. This strip also marks the last comic that Keybounce will be providing guest commentary for, at least for the time being. He may return for Episode VII, but we haven't finalised that yet.

But in the meantime, what story are we going to tell until then with our weekly updates? We're going to keep that a surprise for now. Stay tuned and we hope you enjoy the ride. The new story will begin one week from this comic, on Sunday 13 January.

[Reminder: Our guest commentators have not seen Rogue One. Part of the fun is seeing how their untainted impressions re-interpret the movie through the lens of our comic.]

Should I mention that all three of these happened?

Should I mention that the scene that they are in right now is one of the three?

Should I mentioned that since they are player characters, the most crazy, ridiculous, and unlikely things are pretty much guaranteed to happen?

Bria's last line is asking the odds that something is going to happen. She makes it sound like it's a million-to-one shot.

Bodhi: I'm the pilot. That's why I've got these goggles on my head.
Bria: But you fly spaceships! The goggles do nothing!
Bodhi: They're for protection.
Bria: You're in a pressurised cockpit!
Bodhi: What if I had to sprint to my ship on a sand planet to make a fast getaway? I'd totally use my goggles to avoid sand in my eyes!
{N.B. they are sprinting to a ship on a sand planet to make a fast getaway, and Bodhi has his goggles pushed up over his hair}
Bria: You would, would you?
Bodhi: Of course!
Bodhi: And what if we were flying through a dust storm and decided to go into hyperspace while still in the atmosphere?
Bodhi: If a rock cracked the windscreen, I'd have goggles and you wouldn't.
Bria: Irrelevant! We'd never do such a thing!
Bodhi: Well... what if I landed on a planet, and someone threw a frag grenade into the cargo hold while it happened to be half full of something extremely combustible?
Bodhi: Then the goggles would protect my eyes!
Bria: Okay, sure, but how likely is that to happen?
