Episode 1045: Needa Gonna Give You Up, Nemet Gonna Let You Down

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

There's a lot of fun to be had in taking stereotypical types of people from the modern world and applying them to other settings.

The pushy unsatisfied customer in a magical potion shop. The nervous flyer on a spaceship. Or how about some paparazzi following around a group of adventuring heroes back from a dragon slaying expedition? What about a bard who keeps popping up unexpectedly in the oddest places - taverns, inns, public squares - singing a ridiculously catchy and annoying song?

Inspiration for colourful NPCs is everywhere!

Transcript

Captain Needa: Commander, turn around and tailgate that sonofaGungan. See how they like it!
Captain Needa: And you, space freighter, you think you're so special, riding your daddy's jalopy for the first time, straight off the training wheels?
Captain Needa: Take it from me, your papa's gonna miss his space clunker more than you!
Captain Needa: Well? Well?! Whaddya say to that, huh?
{beat}
Commander Nemet: Sir, we've lost them.
Captain Needa: Oh, great. They've gone and bloody self-destructed just to make me look like an idiot.
Captain Needa: Well I'm not going to stand for this. This was Vader's big idea.
Captain Needa: You mind the ship. I'ma go give Vader a piece of my mind!
