Vehicles often have additional capabilities that don't normally come into the awareness of roleplayers. But knowledge of these features can help save your skin in difficult adventure situations. For example, if your car breaks down in the desert, (the following is roleplaying game advice only, do not try this in real life) you can drink the water from the radiator.
If you're a GM you need to be on top of these sorts of things, to make sure you apply them realistically. For example, radiator water will probably have antifreeze or some other toxic chemical additives in it that may not be apparent to anyone trying to drink it. (And if you drink it in real life it will kill you, so don't.)

General Veers: Who the heck designed these monstrosities?
[SFX]: Pow! Pow! Pow!
Imperial Tank Driver: I dunno, these controls seem like they're built for someone with four arms.
General Veers: And why is there a "chamomile tea" button next to the one labelled "trample puny humans"?
Luke: I've read the specs for these hoverplanes. They have harpoons for spearing glacier worms.
R2-D2: How is that going to help?
Luke: I dunno! I'm making it up as I go along!
Han: Ooh, good idea.
Dak: Luke! Incoming fire!
Luke: Dodge! 3.
[SFX]: Kaboom!
GM: You're hit. <roll> Ooooh, that's not good. 35 damage to... <roll> rear compartment.
Luke: Dak! Are you still with me?
{beat: Dak slumped at his controls}
R2-D2: I guess he bought the farm after all.
