Do you know who your character's mother was? It's a good litmus test of how well-developed your character background is.

Except now that we've mentioned it, everyone will write up a couple of lines about their character's mother and ignore everything else.

[SFX]: Whooom!

Anakin: And why should I?
Obi-Wan: Unchecked emotion clouds your judgement. How can you hope to make the right decisions if you don't control your feelings?
Anakin: Without feelings is one really alive? My mother taught me to live life to its fullest.
Obi-Wan: You had... responsibilities too! Life is... not a quest for... your own gratification!
Anakin: I'm passionate about the things I care about. Not some emotionless automaton!
[SFX]: wmmm...
{flashback to Anakin confronting Cliegg Lars}
Anakin: Widower?! I've just lost my mother.
{end flashback}
Anakin: Do you even remember your mother? Do you even care who she was?
[SFX]: wmmm...
Obi-Wan: Of course I remember my mother. She was.. um... a woman who.. um...
R2-D2: And Mr Character Background is undone!
