At some point, the player who didn't really understand what roleplaying is all about suddenly comes to the realisation that they've been doing it all wrong, and that the roleplaying experience is actually predicated on something completely different.
Then that person will realise that they should play their character as though motivated by realistic concerns within the game world, treating other characters as real people, with feelings and passions of their own.
No, wait...
Then that person will realise that they should play their character solely to maximise the acquisition of skills and treasure, treating other characters as disposable, with nothing more than a few stats to define them.
