Episode 244: Darts and Droids

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

This is another deleted scene from the film. It was originally intended to be inserted a bit later on, but since it was deleted from the final cut of the film, we've taken the liberty to move it forward a little bit. Besides suiting our story, it breaks up the mass of consecutive deleted scenes which occurs later.

Deleting this scene from the movie was a reasonable thing to do, since it accomplishes nothing other than showing us how goofy droids sometimes look in the Star Wars universe - and we already knew that.

Transcript

Obi-Wan: I have a dart I need—
SP-4: Aren't you suspended? You shouldn't be here.
Obi-Wan: If I was suspended, I wouldn't even be allowed in the building. But I'm here, so obviously I can't be suspended. Can I?
SP-4: Hmmm... That seems... logical.
Obi-Wan: What can you tell me about the dart?
SP-4: This is an entirely unimportant piece of metal. There is no evidence whatsoever that it can give you.
SP-4: There is absolutely no reason to pursue this line of inquiry any further.
Obi-Wan: That's what you think.
SP-4: Yes. Yes, it is. I'm an expert in this field. I have enhanced perceptual capability. I see everything about this dart.
Obi-Wan: And that is why you fail. You're too focused on the here and now.
Obi-Wan: Analyse it again.
SP-4: Hang on... Have you actually left the building since you were suspended?
Obi-Wan: That's all I need for now... Thanks! {gets up and leaves hurriedly}
