There are (at least) two approaches to roleplaying adventures. One is to treat them as puzzles and obstacles that must be overcome, by finding the right clues and objects and acquiring them somehow. The other is to interact with the other denizens of the make-believe world as if they were real, trying to find out what motivates them and what they know about the world.
Fortunately, both can lead you to useful places if applied correctly.

R2-D2: Oh, how I love stock descriptions.
Qui-Gon: {shouting to the townsfolk} Hey, we're just in from out of town! Where can we get some weapons?
Jar Jar: Wow, yousa handmaiden for Queen Amidala! She'sa so wise and powerful.
Padmé: Yeees. Yes she is.
Qui-Gon: I cast Detect Evil on that guy with the backpack.
Jar Jar: Yousa must travels with her everywhere!
Padmé: Indeed.
Qui-Gon: Hey, you! Have you seen the Lost Orb of Phantasmacropolis?
Jar Jar: So yousa seen... Senator Palpatine, yessy?
Padmé: I've met him a few times. He's a good man.
Jar Jar: Hesa ever talking about the Lost Orb? It'sa very important to my peoples!
Padmé: Um... yes, he thinks the Trade Federation took it from Naboo.
Qui-Gon: Hey, is that a repair shop? I think I'm making real progress here!
