NPCs come in two basic varieties: Bad Guys, and Lackeys.
Once you've determined an NPC isn't a Bad Guy and out to steal your hard-won and rightfully gained loot, he immediately turns into a Lackey, who you can expect to follow your orders faithfully, simply because that's what NPCs do.

GM: Let me see what type of ship you've acquired. <roll>
GM: Oooh. Excellent choice. It's the royal yacht, luxuriously fitted out for the Queen and her retinue, the pride of the Naboo fleet.
Qui-Gon: We search the ship. Is the Lost Orb of Phantasmagorola here?
GM: There's nothing of value but wardrobes full of the Queen's costumes.
Qui-Gon: What's their armour rating?
Panaka: You are not wearing the Queen's dresses.
GM: Meanwhile, Captain Olié, one of the pilots you rescued, has powered up the ship.
Qui-Gon: Hey, get away from there! This is our ship! We found it!
Ric Olié: I'm the ship's pilot.
Qui-Gon: Ohh... sorry.
Qui-Gon: You'll be taking orders from me then. Blast off!
GM: The ship leaves the hangar and rapidly accelerates into space, towards the Trade Federation blockade.
Qui-Gon: We'll easily be able to blast our way through in this baby!
Panaka: Actually, the ship has no weapons.
Obi-Wan: Don't any ships in this universe have weapons?
Panaka: Sure, the blockade ships have plenty.
