Planning is the most important part of any activity. It's where everyone gets a say so that you can come up with the worst possible plan of action. If you're sensible you can then not do that, and do something more likely to work instead, and then when things go pear-shaped you can take solace in the fact that it could have gone so much worse.

Or if you're like most gaming groups, you can just go with the worst plan, so that when you have to fall back to plan B, things will start to go better.

It looks like Finn is not quite sure about how the plan is meant to go. Why shove Poe in a closet to say they're going to pretend to break out? A plan that the leadership is involved with shouldn't need a closet to explain it in. If the leaders aren't involved, why bother with the pretend defection part?

I really like the choice of expressions here. I can just see how Annie's lost track of how Jim's come up with a plan that does almost nothing that would be necessary from her point of view. And Poe's got crazy eyes growing in the last panel too.

Sadly though.... I can sort of see where Poe is coming from here. If there's an actual escape, then there's no need to pretend anything for the escape. Anyone that can tell the difference between truth and lies will have a much harder time telling an actual truth from a technical truth. I'm not sure what this says about my thought processes that I could actually follow this. Maybe Jim's got a different reason that we'll find out later and then I can say I'm still mostly sane.

We have a wrench* thrown into the plans.

Poe has just told Finn "Let's defect". But Finn points out that he's loyal to Kylo Ren (Sally)'s plan. So Finn/Annie now knows that Poe/Jim isn't really planning on being loyal to the Knights of Ren/First Order.

And, Annie and Jim are married in real life, but now opposed in-game? Why am I thinking of Friendship is Dragon's current Canterlot Wedding plotline (real life married gamers playing Shining Armor and Cadence while Cadence is clearly not herself.)

It seems that Jim is about to get another character. Makes sense, he's overdue for a death and new character at this point. Meanwhile, the cast page does not have Ben's new character yet, and barely (ok, not at all) indicates that Rey is a salvage raider.

* Specifically, a 3/17 occipital left-leaning heterodyne wrench.

Finn: In here.
[SFX]: shove
Finn: Right, here’s the plan.
Finn: We’ll get you back to the Resistance, but we have to make it look like you escaped.
Poe: Okay.
Finn: I’ll pretend to defect and bust you out. Then we can vouch for each other.
Poe: I’ve got a better plan. Why don’t we actually escape?
Finn: Huh?
Poe: Don’t tell anyone we’re supposed to escape, and we escape for real!
Finn: What?? But... we don’t need—
Poe: That’s what makes it so brilliant!
