Try to find the good points of whatever equipment you have available, rather than lamenting a lack of anything superior. You'll be happier, and you'll be better able to come up with ridiculous rule-bends that you can slip past your GM.
Chewbacca: So this is why the Ewocs are so effective against armoured troopers.
GM: I can scale the damage rule—
R2-D2, Han, Leia: Nooo!!
Chewbacca: Ahem. No doubt the armour and weapons are highly evolved to be specifically effective against contemporary weapons and armour - an arms race that literally doesn't take into account—
GM: Fine, fine. So noted. <scribble>
C-3PO: We'll reach the door in the next combat round.
GM: Troopers fire at you. <roll> <roll> <roll> But they all miss.
[SFX]: Pow! Pow!
Chewbacca: They really can't hit live targets, can they?
Han: I shoot a trooper! 19!
GM: Roll for damage.
GM: That's zero damage. He falls over in bemused surprise.
Han: Ha! Can't do that with a stick!
