Episode 1158: Family Fallout

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

Just about the only method of attaining some form of immortality open to real life is to pass your legacy down to your children, and then hope that they continue to live up to it once you die.

Not so in a roleplaying game! In the fantasy genre, you can transcend mortality by becoming undead, or through magic (or both), or perhaps even by ascending to godhood. And within science fiction there are also numerous possibilities: brain uploading, cyborgification, anti-agathic drugs or technology, and so on.

Still, having kids who want to maintain your legacy isn't a bad idea, as accidents can happen.

Transcript

Luke: So... it turns out... you didn't kill my mother. And I didn't kill your son.
Darth Vader: It is regrettable you did not reveal this earlier. It would have spared your hand.
Darth Vader: On the bright side, I know a great cyberneticist.
Luke: Well... now what?
Darth Vader: You and your sister must join me and rule the Galaxy as a dynasty.
Luke: That's funny. Learning this, I was going to ask you to join the Rebellion.
Darth Vader: I wasn't asking. I was telling.
Luke: I choose my own path these days.
Darth Vader: You are in no position to choose anything.
Luke: Heh. I'm positioned perfectly to choose. Between the frying pan and the fire...
Luke: I choose...
Luke: Fire!
{Luke let's go of the gantry and falls}
Luke: {falling} You're not the boss of me!
Luke: MUM!
